Westfield Tea Tree Plaza is a large South Australian shopping centre located in Modbury, north of Adelaide. It is linked to the city by Adelaide's unique O-Bahn system, which terminates at the Tea Tree Plaza Interchange, and as such is a major hub for Adelaide's northern suburbs. [Landry, Charles: [http://www.adelaidereview.com.au/archives/2004_08/issuesandopinion_story3.shtml A road well travelled] , "The Adelaide Review", August 2004.] There is a smaller shopping centre building called Tea Tree Plus slightly to the north of the main centre. The centre was built by The Westfield Group as part of an extensive subdivision of the area, which at the time was the largest remainingunderdeveloped, nonindustrial land in the Adelaide metropolitan area. The centre opened in September 1970. On 27 June 2005, a gang of jewel thieves broke into the centre through the roof and stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewellery, including gold bracelets and watches, from one of the centre's jewellery stores.
