John H. Castle High School, more commonly known as simply Castle is a 9-12 education facility located about a mile northeast of Newburgh, Indiana on Indiana 261, and around 1000 feet north of the Lloyd Expressway. On several occasions the school was the largest in Southwestern Indiana. Because of its closeness and the fact that Castle is the only extra-Evansville school that plays in the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference, Castle is often considered to be an Evansville School, even by people in other parts of Warrick County.

History

Castle High School was built in 1975, and is located on 92 acres. In 2004 a new wing was added to the school containing a large Band Facility, two science labs, and several classrooms. Also associated with this project was the addition of air-conditioning to the smaller South Gym and a new state-of-the-art weight room facility and brand new locker rooms for the varsity sports. In 2008 Castle is now building a new Media Center and a new Olympic size pool.

As of 2006, CHS has 1768 students. CHS is the largest school in the Warrick County School Corporation compared to Boonville High School with 915 students and Tecumseh High School with 312 students.
