- Jollees Cabaret Club
Jollees Cabaret Club was a cabaret venue in
Stoke-on-Trent inEngland . At the peak of its popularity, audiences saw many international recording artists and comedians perform, including Cliff Richard, Roy Orbison, Norman Wisdom, Petula Clark, Bruce Forsythe, Matt Monro, Cilla Black, and Tom Jones.Prior to becoming Jollees, it was the Magnet Bowl and Chancery Grill, a combined restaurant and bowling alley, located above the Longton Bus Station. But it would become most famous as the venue for the World Darts Championship for seven years between 1979 and 1985.
The nightclub closed in the early 1990s. Following closure, it became several different venues, including a wine bar. However, the venue would eventually be almost completely demolished and rebuilt, beginning in 2004. The totally reconstructed building is now home to a branch of the high street store, Wilkinson.
