Fred Russell (born September 14, 1980) is an American football player who was previously on the St. Louis Rams' practice squad. He played his college football at Iowa and played high school football at Milford Academy in Milford, Connecticut. On March 15, 2007, it was announced that he had signed a contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League and was released on July 3, 2007.

2006: Spent the season on the St. Louis Rams practice roster. He was allocated to NFL Europe’s Cologne Centurions, where he led the team in rushing with 522 yards on 150 carries. He also had three touchdowns and added 19 receptions for 163 yards. As well, he had 21.0 yard average on three kickoff returns.
2005: He attended training camp with Chicago Bears.
CAREER: He attended training camp with Miami Dolphins in 2004. He led the Dolphins with 107 yards on 23 carries during the pre-season. After being released by the Dolphins, he spent the rest of the year on the Chicago Bears' practice roster.
COLLEGE: He finished his college career with 2,760 yards on 523 carries with 17 touchdowns. He also had 18 kickoff returns for a 21.8-yard average. He had a stellar senior season at Iowa where he rushed for 1,355 yards and seven touchdowns on 282 carries. He was named an all-Big Ten selection twice. On Jan. 1, 2004, he was MVP of the Outback Bowl in a 27-17 win over Florida in his last collegiate game.
PERSONAL: He is the son of Twana Spencer. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa, with a degree in African American World Studies. He currently resides in Romulus, Michigan in the off-season.
