- Higham Gobion
Higham Gobion is a
village in thehundred of Flitt , in the Englishcounty ofBedfordshire . The village is now part of the civil parish of Shillington. It is located near the villages ofApsley End andBarton-le-Clay .The village gets its name from the Gobion family, who resided in this area, and dates from after the
Norman invasion of1066 . The village built up aroundHigham Gobion Castle , an 11th centurymotte and bailey fortress. Theruins of thecastle are still visible today. It also has a catholic church, St. Margaret's, that contains a monument of Dr.Edmund Castell , who was a rector there. The church is part of theDiocese of St Albans .External links
