village andcivil parish in the Englishcounty ofBedfordshire . There are two main centres of population in the parish. The population of the parish is expected to rise substantially in the near future, as planning permission for the development of 1,100 homes on the 42-hectare site of the former RAF camp in Shortstown was granted in November 2005. Boarding School was established in the village as a result of theElementary Education Act 1870 . The school was built in 1874, at a cost of £1,174, for 140 children with a schoolmaster’s house attached.References
