Ekushey Padak ( _bn. একুশে পদক) is one of the highest civilian awards in Bangladesh. It was introduced in memory of those who died during the Bengali Language Movement demonstrations ( _bn. বাংলা ভাষা আন্দোলন) that took place on February 21, 1952. The award

The award consists of 25,000 Taka, an 18 carat gold medal weighing 3 tolas and a certificate of honour. The medal was designed by the artist Nitun Kundu. The amount of the cash reward was originally taka 25 thousand, but it was subsequently increased to taka 40 thousand. Ministry of Cultural Affairs Administered the Padak.
