Petro Franko

Petro Franko ( _uk. Петро Франко) (1890-1941) son of Ivan Franko, was a Ukrainian educator and author, a co-founder of the Plast Ukrainian Scouting Organization. Born in the town of Nahuyevychi near Drohobych, he graduated from the Lviv Polytechnic Institute, and from 1914 served in the legion of the partisan "Sichovi Striltsi" and commanded a battalion. In 1919 he organized an aviation unit in the Ukrainian Galician Army. Later worked as a teacher in Kolomyja.

From 1927-1936 he worked as an engineer in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, in 1939 he lectured at the Lviv trade-economic institute. In 1940, he was elected as a deputy to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic's "Verkhovna Rada".

He was the author of several books, including the historical novellas "Makhnivski Popivna", "V Pralisakh Braziliyi", memoirs "I. Franko from close", film scenario of "Borislav Smiyetsia" and others.

From the beginning of German-Russian War in June 1941, he was detained by Soviets from Lviv and died in unknown circumstances.
