KBP Instrument Design Bureau (ФГУП «Конструкторское бюро приборостроения») is a Russian (former Soviet) developer and manufacturer of high-precision weapons. It was established in 1927 in Tula, USSR. Arkady Shipunov has been the "Designer General" since 1962. It was announced on the KBP website that on 25 September 2006, "Based on the results of the competition carried out by the Federal Agency of Industry, Rybas Alexandr Leonidovich is appointed as the Designer General and Head of KBP Instrument Design Bureau". The reason for his replacement for Shipunov is unknown.
