Pittsburgh SteelersPlaying stats at NFL.com Dan Sheldon (born May 23, 1982) is an American football player who was signed on September 19, 2006 to the Chicago Bears practice squad. On September 27, he was released from the practice squad. Sheldon is a punt and kick returner who excels in making plays in the open field. Sheldon has been cut by several teams, including the Colts and the Cardinals, but continues to try to earn a living as a professional football player. In April 2008 Sheldon signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL; however did not make the final cut and was released June 2008.
High school
At Central High School in Burlington, Illinois, Sheldon was a running back and was very successful. He broke many rushing records for the school. He was later recruited by Northern Illinois.
College
Sheldon went to Northern Illinois where he set many punt and kick return records.
