It was built in 1861 for Francis Hardy Faulding, the founder of F.H. Faulding & Co, and his wife Elizabeth. Its next owner, G.S. Fowler, a principal of the firm of D.& J. Fowler, enlarged the building.cite web|url = http://www.burnside.sa.gov.au/webdata/resources/files/Glen_Osmond.pdf|title = Seymour College|accessdate = 2007-09-27|format = PDF|work = Historic Self-Guided Walk: Glen Osmond
