Watsonia is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Watsonia, on the Hurstbridge railway line. It is in Metcard Zone 2 and is classed as a Premium Station, upgraded from Host Station status in 2008.
Facilities
Watsonia station is located in a deep cutting, between the Greensborough Highway and Watsonia Road, with platform access from both.
The station consists of two platforms, in an island format, with a large brick building in the centre. A large Metcard machine is located at the entrance to the platforms, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A footbridge is located at the DOWN end of the station.
History
Watsonia station opened on June 23 1924. The station was rebuilt in the late 1970s when this section of the line was lowered.
