Shan Wells

Shan Wells is a North American Sculptor and political illustrator. Born in Cortez, Colorado, he attended Art Center College of Design and the University of Canterbury, in New Zealand, where he studied under Andrew Drummond.

He received a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation in 1999 [ [http://www.artnet.com/Magazine/news/artnetnews/artnetnews8-19-99.asp artnet.com Magazine News - ArtNet.com News 8/19/99 ] ] , and two successive Colorado Council on the Arts Fellowships [ [http://www.coloarts.state.co.us/news/report/FY03_Annual_Report.pdf Colorado Council on the Arts ] ] for drawing and sculpture, respectively, one of two recipients of the awards to do so in the 35 year history of the program.Fact|date=February 2007

Wells illustrates a weekly political cartoon for the Durango Telegraph [ [http://www.durangotelegraph.com The Durango Telegraph - The independent weekly line on Durango and Beyond ] ] , an independent weekly newspaper in Durango, Colorado. His illustrations have also appeared in Truthout.org, Westword, Las Vegas City Life, and the Los Angeles Reader.
