Blom ASA was founded in 1954 by hydrographer Ole H. Blom. By 1988 the company was listed on Oslo Stock Exchange. In the early 1990s Blom expanded into
Saudi Arabia andIndonesia . In addition the company acquiredAsplan Viak in Norway and expanded into the otherScandinavia n countries, including acquiring thecredit information companyCreditinform in 1997. aircraft assisted byGlobal Positioning System (GPS) withInertial Measurement Units (IMU) to perform aerial photography. The company also usedsurvey camera s, laser-scanners (LiDAR) andhyper-spectoral scanner s. The company has 32 fixed-winged aircraft, fourhelicopter s and oneLearjet .Laser scanning is used to create a three-dimentional image of the terrain, resulting in Digital Terrain Models (DTM). The scanning is done from fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters.
