Richard Carpenter (born September 30, 1972 in Sheppey) is an English footballer. In fifteen years as a professional player he has played for Gillingham, Fulham, Cardiff City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Welling United.
On 16 February 2007, Carpenter had his contract terminated by mutual consent at Brighton as he had lost his first-team place after the arrival of more midfielders at the club. Carpenter captained the club during Charlie Oatway's spell on the sidelines.
Later that day he had signed for Conference South side Welling United.
