Li Yinhe (zh-tsp|t=李銀河|s=李银河|p=Lǐ Yínhé) (
February 4 ,1952 – ) is asociologist ,sexologist , and an activist forLGBT rights inPeople's Republic of China . She was married to the late writerWang Xiaobo .Biography
Born in
Beijing in 1952, Li attendedShanxi University from 1974 to 1977. She became an editor at the government newspaperGuangming Daily , then a researcher atChinese Academy of Social Sciences . She marriedWang Xiaobo in 1980. In 1982 she went to theUnited States of America and obtained aPh.D. in sociology fromUniversity of Pittsburgh (1988). Afterwards she worked as apostdoc then as an instructor atPeking University . In 1992 she became a professor at the Institute of Sociology atChinese Academy of Social Sciences .Her main academic interests are
sexual norm s in contemporaryPeople's Republic of China ,homosexuality andwomen's studies .Major Works

Li has been active in calling for greater tolerance for nonconventional sexual activities in China. She thinks the country is undergoing a "de facto"
sexual revolution , and encourages people to re-examine traditional attitudes towards sexual promiscuity andhomosexuality . She proposes decriminalization of orgies andprostitution (both currently illegal in China).
