Sir David Philip Lane FRS, FRSE FRCPath (born 1952) is a British
oncologist . He is best known for his work on thep53 tumour suppressing-protein. Besides his position at theUniversity of Dundee , he also founded theCyclacel biotechnology company.He was made a
Knight Bachelor in 1999. In 2004, he was awarded theBuchanan Medal .He is currently serving his 2 year sabbatical from the University of Dundee as the Executive Director of Singapore's

His wife, Professor Birgette Lane also has an appointment as Principal Investigator at IMCB and she is prominent for her work in Keratins and its mutations that could be the basis for genetic skin disorders.
