David J. Lane Born David J. Lane Website davelane.ca/about.html David J. Lane is a Canadian astronomer at Saint Mary's University, the past president of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Director of the Burke-Gaffney[1], owner of the Abbey-Ridge[2] observatories, and creator of the planetarium software entitled the Earth Centered Universe. Asteroid 117032 Davidlane is named in his honour. Lane, and fellow Canadian astronomer Paul Gray, discovered supernova 1995F in NGC 2726[3] and supernova 2005ea in MCG+10-16-61.[4]
Lane was a featured guest on comet hunter David H. Levy's internet radio show: Let's Talk Stars.[5]
Lane was also the man who sent images to Paul Gray that the youngest supernova discoverer Kathryn Gray used to discovery a supernova, SN 2010lt in Jan. 2, 2011.
