The Troubles in Ballykelly

According to the Sutton Index of Deaths, all the Troubles-related fatalities in Ballykelly, County Londonderry occurred as a result of the Ballykelly disco bombing, also known as the Droppin Well bombing. Responsibility for the bombing, which killed 17 people, was claimed by the Irish National Liberation Army. The disco was targetted because it was frequented by off-duty British Army soldiers. Eleven soldiers were killed, along with six civilians, five of whom were from Northern Ireland and one who was visiting the area from England. Of the five local civilians, four were Protestant and one Catholic. The oldest of the fatalities was 27, and five were under 20.
