Combination Lock (game show)

Combination Lock (game show)

"Combination Lock" was a game show to be produced by Sony Pictures Television and distributed by King World to be scheduled for first-run daily syndication starting in the Fall of 2007. Before that, however, it was an unsold pilot recorded in Wales on February 9, 1996. The program's fate is in limbo following a failure to secure clearance into syndication.

Game Format

1996 Pilot

Main Game

In this pilot hosted by Ross King, two contestants competed for the entire show. In round one, each correct answer to a question was worth £20 and control of the board. Players tried to find the correct combination to a safe in order to win all the money they have accumulated in the round.

Round two was played the same as round one with the money increasing for a correct answer.

In round three the players' played a race to score six digits and complete another combination. An advange was given to the player in the lead. The first to six digits won the game, the money, and went to the "Super Lock" Round.

Bonus Round

The winning contestant had the opportunity to "Unlock their Fortune" in the Super Lock Round. By playing a True/False Q&A game, the player added seconds to his time. The player uses the time acquired to find the correct combination and open the vault door to win the grand prize.

2007 version

Sony Pictures Television and King World, now CBS Television Distribution, recently developed a new version of "Combination Lock" which was set to premiere in the U.S. in syndication 2007. The format was revamped from the 1996 pilot and was created along with John Ricci Jr., the creator of the program.

Italian 2007 Version

"Combination Lock" is currently airing in Italy inside of a new version of Chain Reaction.
