Mindi is a small village situtated near Gajuwaka. It has population of aroung 7000(?). Mostly all the people here are State and Central Govt Employees.

Geographical Location:

It is located at a distance of 18KM from the vizag city and it is well connected by Roads.Gajuwaka town is 3 KM from it.

History

The village was once a Major Panchayithy and later merged with the Gajuwaka Muncipality(Ward No 2) when later was created and then again merged with Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation(GVMC) - ward no 65 along with Gajuwaka Municipality.

Industries

There are several state and central Government oraganisations in and around the place.

Festivals:

Every year Sankranthi, Dussehra and Vinayaka Chaviti are grandly celebrated here.Apart from the yearly festivals, Durga Devi festival is celebrated very grandly every 4 years.

Political Background:

In this small village compared to other areas, the people here are highly active in politics.First the entire village was dominated by Communists(Both CPI and CPM) and later most people moved to Indian National Congress (INC) when Late Shri G Appanna garu became 1st MLA from Pendurthy constituency.

Later his Son Late Shri G Gurunadha Rao garu, has become MLA from Pendurthy and he served as Minister of Technical Education during the tenure of N.Janardhana Reddy who server as Chief Minister of State.Later he successfully contested as MP from Anakapalli Constituency.Gurunadha Rao had grown very fastly to become a powerful leader in the 5 districts of Visakhapatnam , Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and East Godavari.Many current MLA's and State level leaders are once his followers.
