United Nations Association of Australia

The United Nations Association of Australia Inc, is an incorporated association in Australia which concerns itself with promotion of greater awareness of the United Nations and its purposes and also to ensure that the Government of Australia fulfills its obligations as a member of the United Nations. It operates within all of the States and Territories of Australia and holds annual conferences to discuss key issues. Its national president is John Langmore.

The Association is heavily involved in U.N agenda, such as [http://www.unaa.org.au/praxis.php/category/view/56 drives for money] and focusing on key areas of concern for the U.N such as (but not exclusive to):
* Fossil Fuels
* Asylum Seekers
* Global Governance

United Nations Association of Australia Inc organises educational events, makes submissions to government and parliament, participates in UN Day and Year activities and generally acts as a link between the UN and the Australian public.

It is a member of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), and has a formal link with the UN Department of Public Information. It is governed by a Federal Council which meets annually and determines policy. Federal Council elects a representative Executive Committee to take responsibility for the ongoing work nationally.

The United Nations Association of Australia also manages the United Nations Youth Association of Australia, which vies to "give a voice to usually under-represented youth" [ [http://www.unya.asn.au/ UNYA - United Nations Youth Association of Australia ] ] and to play an important part in the education of the youths of Australia. One such instance is on the 3rd of October 2006, where representatives addressed the U.N [ [http://www.unaa.org.au/praxis.php/category/view/63 United Nations Association of Australia ] ] as representatives of the Australian Youth at large.
