Spring Hill, Florida (Hernando County) which educates children in grades 6 through 8.As of 2006, the
school principal is Mr. Ray Pinder, who formerly served as vice-principal atWest Hernando Middle School and was named as Teacher of the Year by Hernando County in 2002. [ [http://www.hcsb.k12.fl.us/hernandoedfound/TOY2002.htm Teacher 2002 ] ] Average annual enrollment is approximately 1,250 students, with 80 teachers and staff. 86% of the students are Caucasian, 9% Hispanic, 4% African American and 1% Asian/Pacific Islander.In 1999, a 15-year-old girl pleaded no contest to a battery charge after an investigation into whether she performed oral sex on a boy in the middle of a crowded science classroom.
The school made headlines in 2005 when an eleven year old girl was arrested and suspended from school for a period of 10 days after being found in possession of a butter knife. The girl was charged with a third-degree felony for possession of a weapon on school property.
