It is based on the ideals of the D.A.V. movement whose creed and guiding spirit are the words of Maharishi Swami Dyanand - "Let noble thoughts come to us from every side". By following these dictates the school is today blending the Vedic wisdom of the east with the scientific knowledge of the west as D.A.V. symbolises Dayanand-Anglo Vedic, stressing on harmonising the spiritual with the scientific, Vedic lore with material advancement. The school attempts to inculcate in the youth a spirit of pride and faith in their ancient cultural heritage through regular performance of "Havans" and recitation of Sanskrit Shlokas in the morning prayer. The school buildings consist of an array of three and four storey buildings set amidst green lawns, with the capacity for 5,000 students. The school has an international outlook to the DAV Movement with the establishment of DAVOISCA and DAV City Council of Birmingham Exchange Programme. Under the Programme, students and teachers of our school visit UK, Japan and other countries and students and teachers from their schools reciprocate. This gives a platform and opportunity to the students for understanding new educational systems, ways of life, cultural heritage etc.

The school has an convert|8|acre|m2|sing=on piece of farmland about 35km from the School, where it proposes to organise camps for students to appreciate the beauty and explore the variegated dimensions of nature. Plans are also under way to construct a Rural Development Centre for local level community services.
VANASTHALI
Environment conservation is an integral part of the school curriculum. A convert|6|acre|m2|sing=on piece of stinking and filthy dumping site adjacent to the school has been converted into a sprouting children's forest with a garden of Good-Will International in which students and a large number of dignitaries have planted more than 4000 trees.
Educational approach
In order to ensure harmonious and all round development, the school has incorporated the following methodology: computer aided education, state of the art audio visual aids, multimedia systems, L.C.D Projector, talking computers for K.G & Classes I & II. Modern internet technologies are being included in the classrooms in partnership with 'Class teacher.com' which is providing a virtual school service under which teachers, parents and students of class X & XII to can come together on a single platform using their individual passwords. Lesson plans, homework assignments, examination schedules, question papers, results, attendance record, school notice, digital library services are all available on line.
Hobbies & activities
The school follows a fair minded academic approach-both theoretical and practice-oriented. There are 41 activities and hobbies organised in the Senior School and 22 in the Junior School in the fields of Science, Art and Culture. In K.G. department stress is given to activities like computer, Skating, Yoga, Tae-k-wondo, Music and Dance along with other class activities.
Quality Centre
The school quality centre takes up student based projects aimed at their betterment in coordination with the India Quality Foundation. The current project is to focus on student of classes VI - VIII who are either not doing well in academics or in non-scholastic activities interactive and counselling sessions with these students, their parents and teachers have yielded extremely rewarding results.
House system
The school has 10 Houses each headed by a House-warden who is assisted by a group of teachers and prefects.

ANUBHUTI
Anubhuti is a club for creative and talented students, teachers and parents who wish to appreciate and promote India's Cultural heritage in the different arts, music, dance, drama, painting and sculpture. Exposure is provided through interactions with reputed artists, dancers and instrumentalists along with organisation of exhibitions and performance of artists of repute. The club was inaugurated by Col. Bikram Singh, Director, Military Operations on 13th August, 1999. Mrs. Anita Sharma, P.G.T. Mathematics is the teacher in charge of Anubhuti. A talk was delivered by Dr. V.K. Srivastav, Prof. of Mathematics, Delhi University on 2 Sept., 99 on the role of teachers in controlling ill effects of media on young minds.

Fully geared for the New Millennium, more than 60 of the teachers from K.G. - Senior Secondary Department including the principal, enrolled and got trained as Computer Professionals in training course conducted by
Intel . Four of the teachers who attended the Advanced Course conducted by INTEL are now qualified to train other teachers.Intel launched a national teacher training program aimed at training classroom teachers how to effectively integrate the use of computers and the internet into their existing curriculum.
Multimedia lab
The Multimedia lab of the school was updated with all new Pentium III microprocessors, one maths lab and a teacher resource centre was set up. Teachers made PowerPoint presentation and other software on different topics of the
CBSE syllabus. These were used in the classroom (lecture theatre) while teaching with LCD projector. A virtual school was also created on the net with the help of 'classteacher.com', which is updated regularly with the syllabus covered, homework assignments given, extra assignments and sample papers for weak and bright students.
