"Kshitij" is the annual techno-management fest organised at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India. The fest is organised during the month of February, usually in the first week itself, and lasts for four days after which the normal academic session resumes. External Workshops

In keeping with its principal aim of fostering the spirit of techno-managerial education, team Kshitij organizes workshops.
Kshitij(also an Indian boy's name.) 2007 saw the workshops conducted in places like Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad and Jaipur apart from a host of other places in the eastern parts of India. The workshops were entitled 'Robotics and Stock Markets'.
Kshitij 2008 aimed to move a step further, with workshops across major cities of India, at Kolkata, Noida, Jaipur, Raipur and Bhopal. The topic this time was 'Robotics and Entrepreneurship'.

Events

Being a techno-management festival, Kshitij is a very event intensive festvial. The competitive events of Kshitij has been again classified into various categories. The importance of events in Kshitij can be estimated from the fact that this time it is projected that total prize money will exceed 25,00,000 INR.Fact|date=July 2007

The various categories of events in Kshitij 2008 are:
*Genesis: This classification is more to do with when the event is conducted rather than what is the event.They are primarily online. They include C up Your Skills, Mind Sport, Wood Stock, Relic Hunter, Excalibur and Forex.

*Quizzards: These are the set of three quizzes: Biz Quiz, India Inc. and Tech Quiz. Past quiz masters include Arul Mani, Arvind Mudaliar and Giri Balasubramanium.

*Strategia: It is the game of strategies. Events are Anadigix, Overnite, Tycoons, Corporate Debate.

*Conceptualize: These are open-ended contests in the sense they do not have a rigid problem statement. They include Open Soft, Eureka and Bplan.

*Robotix: These are interdisciplinary events, and include Mission Mars, Jigsaw, Step Climber, Lode Runner, Grid Navigator and Rail Track Inspector.

*Ab Initio: These events involve creating efficient engineering designs. Laws of Motion, Chemical Howitzer, Nirmaan, Nightshift.

* Theories 'ncore: These events see the participants trying to rule the markets. El Matador, Marca de Fabrica, Atelier, Exemplar.

*Technology For Fun: X Games, Snappit and Tech Quila

*Industry Design Problem:These events alone have prize money worth 3000 $. Cleaner fossils and Reneour Optima. These events invite solutions from the student community to solve energy problems of India.

    Students from all over the country come to take part in the fest. Colleges like the Indian Institute of Technology and the IIMs, and the NITs take part in the competition. Kshitj 2004 started with a participation of about 500 students, the number grew to 1200 in the 2005 edition and the 2006 version had over 2000 outstation participants.Fact|date=July 2007. Kshitij 2007 had over 3000 outstation participants and this figure will still see a rise for Kshitij 2008.

    Robotix

    Robotix, the annual robotics competition held during Kshitij, attracts participation from the major robotics clubs in the country. Events here range from the coding competitions to the actual construction of robots. Robotix is a separate society in Kharagpur that also organises workshops and seminars for the interested and robot crazy people. Kshitij 2007 saw the organisation of workshops on Robotix in various parts of the country.Fact|date=July 2007

    ocial Cause of the festival

    Taking the festival to the next dimension, Kshitij 2008 will have "Project Green Earth" as the theme of the festival. Workshops, events and Guest lectures will be conducted to create an awareness on Global warming.
