Tasmania ,Australia , north-east ofHobart . It is on theTasman Highway which continues up the east coast of Tasmania.Historically, it was a better known as a major town on the route from Hobart to Port Arthur on the
Tasman Peninsula . In1872 theSorell Causeway was opened, from the Cambridge direction, acrossPitt Water andOrielton Lagoon to Sorell, stopping at Midway Point in the middle. This shortened the route considerably from the original road via Richmond.
