Planned Merger

The merger of Eccles College, Salford College, and Pendleton College was originally scheduled for 1 August 2008, forming the new Salford City College [ [http://www.salford-col.ac.uk/merger Merger proposal] ] . Under this proposal the corporations of Eccles and Salford will be dissolved, and all assets and staff transferred to Pendleton's administration. Pendleton College would then be renamed to 'Salford City College'. The merge proposal plans to operate the new college from the original 3 campuses.

Although the initial proposal was rejected by John Denham (the Innovation, Universities and Skills Secretary), the 3 colleges were asked to re-submit [ [http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2008/aug/12/further.education] ] .

This revised proposal was accepted, and merger is now scheduled to take place on 1 January 2009.
