Tantrasangraha

Tantrasangraha

Tantrasangraha is an ancient Indian astronomical text written by Nilakantha Somayaji in the year 1500. It is one of the major influences of astronomy is India today. Somayaji revised the traditional Indian planetary model. In the Tantrasangraha, Somayaji talked about the latitude and longitude of the planets, finding new ways to measure them. On March 11 - March 13, 2000, a conference was held to honor the 500th anniversary of the Tantrasangraha.

In his "Tantrasangraha", Nilakantha revised Aryabhata's model for the planets Mercury and Venus. His equation of the centre for these planets remained the most accurate until the time of Johannes Kepler in the 17th century.George G. Joseph (2000).
