Early life and personal life
She is the fifth of seven siblings: Diego, Mercedes, Pablo, Juan Ignacio, Rafael and Mónica. Her parents were lawyers. Margarita Zavala studied law at Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City.
She married Felipe Calderón on January 1993. They have three children.
Margarita's primary objective in the changing Mexican government is to help her newly elected husband run the educational programs throughout the country.[1]
First Lady of Mexico
As the wife of the President of Mexico during 2006-2012, Felipe Calderón, Margarita Zavala is considered "First Lady" in the country. Although, such function is not defined by the legal frame in Mexico. She's the only wife of a Mexican president who have served in Congress. Currently, she serves as president of the civic advisory board to the DIF, a government agency for the integral development of the family in Mexico, as well as a high-school teacher in the private school Asuncion.
