"Weekend Love" was set to be released as the Spice Girls' second single throughout Asia from "Forever". However because Virgin UK and Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, and Melanie Chisholm had decided to cancel all plans with any further released from "Forever", Virgin Asia released the promotional single of "Weekend Love", which was also set to be the final single from "Forever" throughout United Kingdom, Europe, United States, Canada, and Australia. Due to the scrap of the single, the promotional singles that had been created were disposed of by Virgin/EMI. However some promotional singles were leaked out.

Brown was stated in an interview that she was interested in having "Weekend Love" remixed. She said she had considered calling friends Lil' Kim, Trina, or Foxy Brown to see if they were interested in creating a remix with the girls. However this plan fell through due to the cancellation. The remix would have been a complete new song, and would have been seen as the fifth single from "Forever".
