politician .Lefroy was selected as the Conservative Parliamentary spokesman for the Stafford constituency on
11 August ,2006 and will fight the seat at the next general election.He was formally one of the three Conservative Councillors for the Westlands ward of Newcastle-under-Lyme Council. Since a Conservative-led joint administration with the
Liberal Democrats took control from Labour in May 2006, he has been the Portfolio holder for Finance and Efficiency in the Borough.Jeremy Lefroy was the Conservative Party Parliamentary candidate for Newcastle-under-Lyme in the general election of May 2005, losing to Labour's
Paul Farrelly , the sitting MP. He polled 9945 votes down from the 10,664 votes that the Conservatives recorded in the previous General Election representing a fall in the Conservative share of the vote from 26.7% to 25%, although this did also represent a 2.7% swing from Labour to the Conservatives as Labour lost vote share at an even faster rate.Lefroy also founded and runs
Equity for Africa , acharitable trust which seeks to alleviatepoverty in a self-sustaining way by creating jobs through investing in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) inAfrica .Lefroy is married to Janet, a local GP and lecturer at
