colors = Red, White, and BlackPekin is the location of a regional school system, which draws students from Farson, Hedrick, Martinsburg, Ollie, Packwood, and Richland, as well as from the surrounding countryside.The school is built upon a former Air Force base. This school teaches math, science, English, and other subjects common in public schools. For eighteen years, only the high school students went to the regional school, which is located a mile south of Pekin, but in 1978, all grades, K-12, began to study at the regional school, with local buildings being permanently closed.
Football
Pekin's sports teams mascot is the Panthers, and their high school football coach, Tom Stone, has over 300 wins in his history of coaching for the Panthers (322). Tom Stone is currently the 2nd winningest coach in the State of Iowa high school ,2nd only to Dick Tighe of Fort Dodge, St. Edmonds, who has a winning record of 363 games in his career.
