History

The station was located in Albemarle, North Carolina for many years, where it was called WABZ.

Ted Bell hosted "Saturday Night Music Machine" while at WABZ from 1980 and 1982, featuring stars such as Bobby Rydell and Chubby Checker. On the air, he interviewed Debbie Reynolds, George Burns, Phil Everly, Teresa Brewer, Neil Sedaka, Tiny Tim, and Gene McDaniels.
