KRCN (1060 AM) is a radio station licensed to Longmont, Colorado. It serves as the flagship station of the Radio Colorado Network. RCN is also heard on KKKK AM 1580 in Colorado Springs, KVLE-FM 102.3 in Gunnison, KVLE AM 610 in Vail, and KSKE 1450 AM in Buena Vista. All three stations are owned by Pilgrim Communications out of Indianapolis, Indiana.

The stations air business news updates and business and sports talk shows, including Dino Costa (famous for his show on FSN Rocky Mountain). They also air NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.

History

KRCN was known for many years as KLMO. The station used to broadcast a Country music format until March 22, 2000, when the Radio Colorado Network was launched. KKKK in Colorado Springs was known as KPIK in the 1970s and 1980s. As KPIK the station went through several format changes. It was Country, Christian, and Spanish. The station went dark in 1987 and returned to the air in 1988 as KWYD-AM. The station at first played a Country Gospel format but after the sale of their heritage FM sister (see KRDO-FM for information on KWYD-FM), most of the programing that aired on the FM migrated to the AM. Pilgrim bought KWYD-AM in 1998 and kept the Christian format for a while. By 2001 it began to phase out its Christian programing and simulcast more programing from KRCN. The station changed its call letters to KKKK in 2005.
