- Harry Frederick Recher
Professor Harry Frederick Recher is an Australian
ornithologist who was born, and grew up in, theUnited States of America . He studied at theState University of New York College of Forestry and received his B.S. in 1959 fromSyracuse University . He received a Ph.D. fromStanford University in 1964, and then did an NIH postdoctoral fellowship at theUniversity of Pennsylvania andPrinceton University . He moved to Australia in 1967. 1968 he worked for 20 years at theAustralian Museum as a research scientist, focussing on conservation issues and the biology of forest and woodland birds. In1988 he moved to the University of New England. In 1996 he became the Foundation Professor in Environmental Management atEdith Cowan University in Perth,Western Australia . More recently he has been editor of the journal "Pacific Conservation Biology ".In
