Poor Scottish knight Quentin Durward (Robert Taylor) is sent to France by his elderly uncle to arrange for the old man's marriage to the young, beautiful heiress, Isabelle, Countess of Marcroy (Kay Kendall). Durward soon becomes entangled in the rivalry between the French King Louis XI and Charles, Duke of Burgandy (
