School inspection

A Department of Education (Northern Ireland) inspection carried out in October 2001 found that it "is a happy and welcoming school which enjoys the interest and strong support of its parents and governors. The staff form a hard-working team; together they have created a caring community and an attractive and orderly learning environment. The teachers relate to the children well and are committed to their well-being and development. They broaden the children’s experiences through providing, for example, clubs and educational visits, links with other schools and involvement in the local community". The children themselves are found to be "pleasant, courteous and respectful ... well motivated to learn and their behaviour around the school is exemplary". However, the report also concluded that "the children have insufficient opportunity to use ICT to enhance their learning across the curriculum". As a result the school has identified the area as a priority for development and it has plans to improve the children's experiences using ICT.

School website

Like most schools it has a website. The school website has a news place where notes given to school children can be viewed here. There is also a sections like art, music, literacy and drama which are updated regularly with pupils work. The school has a system to protect identities of pupils with numbers and letters. For instance lets say your child had a piece of literacy entitled "A moving world" and they were in P5. To find your child's work in the name column there would be a number 5 followed by a letter the class teacher will tell your child that letter and you can view your child's work.
