In July , the Colorado Rockies claimed Machado off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds and added him to their 25-man roster.
Machado appeared in two games for the Reds this season, both as a
pinch hitter , and was 0-for-2. The 24-year-old shortstop began the year on the 15-daydisabled list following offseason surgery to repair a torn medial collateral ligament and torn meniscus in his left knee (January 28, 2005). He played in 21 games du RBI.Originally signed as a non-drafted
