eISSN = The Journal of Consciousness Studies (JCS) is aninterdisciplinary ,peer-review edacademic journal dedicated entirely to the field ofconsciousness studies. It has been co-edited by the philosopher ofmysticism ,Robert K.C. Forman .Background
The "JCS" was founded in part to provide visibility across disciplines to various researchers approaching the problem of consciousness from their respective fields. The articles are usually in non-specialized language (in contrast to a typical academic journal) in order to make it accessible to those in other disciplines. This also serves to help make it accessible to laypersons.
In contrast to other journals, such as "
Consciousness and Cognition ", which is aninterdisciplinary "scientific " journal onconsciousness , "JCS" attempts to incorporate fields beyond the realm of thenatural science s and thesocial sciences such as thehumanities ,philosophy ,critical theory ,comparative religion , andmysticism to name a few.Conferences
JCS is affiliated with the
Towards a Science of Consciousness conference, and theCenter for Consciousness Studies at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona.Notable articles
