Vermont Route 7A is a north-south highway which runs from Bennington to Dorset. The road, which is also known as Historic Route 7A locally, is contained within Bennington County.

Route description

In Shaftsbury, VT 7A passes by the Robert Frost Stone House Museum. Farther north, in Arlington, VT 7A travels past the Norman Rockwell Gallery and Exhibition followed by Hildene in Manchester.

History

The route is called "Historic" in order to avert confusion with US 7 (the four-lane limited-access highway known as the "Super 7"). [http://www.thisisvermont.com/storywhyhist.html "Why is Route 7A Historic?" - ThisisVermont.com] ; accessed 2006-08-23.]

Before it opened, 7A was the original routing of US 7.
