Past_members = Alan Selway – Bass Vardis were a pioneering three-piece heavy metal band from theNew Wave of British Heavy Metal scene between1978 and1986 . They were fromWakefield inEngland , and consisted of frontmanSteve Zodiac on guitar and lead vocals, Alan Selway on bass and Gary Pearson on drums. From 1984, Selway was replaced by Terry Horbury (previously of Dirty Looks).Original Vardis records are rare and are valued in most record collector's books and guides. An original copy of '100mph' including the enclosed tour guide and poster has an estimated value of approximately £500 ($940).Fact|date=February 2007

Vardis' first album "100 mph", which was recorded live, included the tracks "100 mph," "If I Were King," and "Let's Go."
Vardis' second album "The Worlds Insane" featured a fiery version of
Hawkwind 's "Silver Machine" and a blues title track with a lashing solo.The third album "Quo Vardis" offered barnburners like "Together Tonight" and "Boogie Blitz" with
