Wahta Mohawk Territory is an Indian reserve near Bala, Ontario on the Musquash River in south-central Ontario, Canada in the District Municipality of Muskoka.
The territory is home to the Iroquois Cranberry Growers, who produce a significant harvest every year and provide access to the public during the harvest.
"Wahta Gap"
Due to a land claim dispute with the Province of Ontario, the Wahta Territory was the site of an eight-kilometre gap in Highway 400, where the roadway remained a two-lane highway for several years after the construction was completed further north. An agreement was reached with the government of Ontario in 2003, allowing freeway construction through the reserve lands. Construction began in 2004, and was completed in 2008.
