Nili Tal

Nili Tal (Hebrew: נילי טל‎, born Nili Herman in Tel Aviv, Israel) is an Israeli journalist and documentary film director and producer.

Tal began her journalism career at the Israeli Haaretz daily newspaper in 1965, where she spent some ten years of writings. She since has also contributed, as a freelancer, to other Israeli newspapers such as Yedioth Ahronoth and Maariv. She then moved into the television industry and began to work for the Israeli Broadcasting Authority (IBA or Channel 1), the sole television network in Israel back then. Mabat Shenny (Hebrew: מבט שני‎) (Second Look) was the only 60-Minute-like reporting program on the IBA, and Tal became one of its directors. In her 1984 documentary Eyal she introduced the Israeli audience to Eyal - a twenty-something year-old junkie. It was the first time a scene of shooting drugs was shown on TV in Israel, which brought the problematic issue of drugs usage into public debate.

Tal has directed and produced numerous reports and documentaries for all of the Israeli television channels, including The Israeli Broadcasting Authority (IBA - Channel 1), The Second Israeli Broadcasting Authority (Channel 2), Israel 10 (Channel 10), Channel 3 and Channel 8. Many of her films have participated in international film festivals and broadcast in other countries.
