Somerton is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Its Local Government Area is the City of Hume. Somerton is an industrial suburb, with factories and workshops scattered around the suburb. The nearest forms of shopping are in Roxburgh Park, Broadmeadows and Campbellfield. Its nearest forms of transport are at Upfield station, on the Upfield line and several bus routes that run through the suburb.

History

Somerton Post Office first opened on 1 January 1854 and closed in 1864. It reopened in 1892 some time after the railway arrived and again closed in 1966. In 1994 the Somerton Business and Delivery Centres opened. Citation
