- Kemptville Creek
The Kemptville Creek is a
tributary of theRideau River , located inNorth Grenville township inLeeds and Grenville County withinEastern Ontario ,Canada . The Kemptville Creek is 63 kilometres (39 miles) in length and flows through several communities, includingKemptville, Ontario ,Oxford Mills, Ontario andBishop's Mills, Ontario . The creek was historically referred to by the name "South Branch of the Rideau River", until its name was changed to "Kemptville Creek" in 1908.The creek is navigable, for smaller watercraft, from the
Rideau River to the town docks inKemptville, Ontario . In the summer it is also suitable forcanoeing fromBishop's Mills, Ontario to approximately 10km to the South ofOxford Mills, Ontario (rough-launch near the railway bridge, or at the dam in town). In the spring it should be possible to canoe from Oxford Station Road (or further) to theRideau River with oneportage .External links
