Air Force School, Chakeri, Kanpur - is located right opposite the new building of Kendriya Vidyalaya No 2, Chakeri Kanpur. and is adjacent to Indian Air Force Senior Commissioned Officers Enclave (popularly called N1).

History

----It started its journey as a primary school opened by an Indian Air Force Officer's war widow Ms. V Kohli in a community centre building located at the Indian Air Force Junior Commissioned Officers Enclave (popularly called N4); and was soon one of the most difficult schools to get admission into, in the area. Most of it was because of the personal attention of the lady in command.

The school became so popular and so busy that it soon started operating in two shift which is still the norm. It also upgraded including Higher secondary divisions followed by secondary and ultimately senior secondary classes. Some famous people like A. Srivastav, Shyam Basu have passed out from this school

Indian Air Force which had only started this school with the least support to the opening team, later showed more interest and eventually took over the school and the leading lady was offered a position of Vice Principal - Primary Division, which she continued for a very long term afterwards. The new principal Mr. C Chatterjee was from a boarding school background somewhere in eastern India. At this stage (1984) the school moved into the existing building, of which only the L shaped front and central structure was present then.

Soon the school became too large in size and too strong in rolls. The fee structure being biased to the extent of almost free education to Armed Forces Employee Dependents and very high fee charged to civilians notwithstanding; the school is still one of the most sought after ones in the area.

There is another Air Force run school in Cantonment area, which is next to No. 7 Air Force Hospital, Kanpur; but it is not as famous, as it is primarily meant only for primary education of Hospital staff wards.
