near-se =Pearl Beach is a suburb of the Central Coast region of
New South Wales ,Australia , located south of Umina Beach, being separated from it by a ridge upon which sits Mount Ettalong at a height of convert|56|m|ft|0|lk=on. It is part of theCity of Gosford local government area.Within Pearl Beach many elderly residents set up the "Pearl Beach Progress Association". The goal of the PBPA was initially to create a group that could lobby for improvements to be made to the "village" through council funding and donations from residents. Throughout the years the progress association has developed an extreme right wing agenda, now only wishing to help those within Pearl Beach who own their own homes. The association looks down upon those who rent their homes and young people within Pearl Beach who "are destroying the lifestyle of those of us who own our own homes" (David Denton - ex Bank Manager). The current President of the Progress Association is Rod Craig.
It is bounded on the west and south by
Brisbane Water National Park , and on the east byBroken Bay . "Pearl Beach" is also the name of the suburb's beach."Opera in the Arboretum" is an annual event organised by the Rotary Club of Woy Woy. Proceeds go to local charities and other local Rotary projects. The event is held each March in the Pearl Beach "Crommelin Native Arboretum" and features performances by leading Australian opera identities.
