Vermont Distinguished Service Medal
- Vermont Distinguished Service Medal
The Vermont Distinguished Service Medal can be awarded to a veteran who was a resident of the state of Vermont when he or she entered the military. The recipient must have served in a combat theater and either have been honorably discharged or died prior to military separation.
The medal is a state award. Active duty regulations allow their members to accept, but not wear state awards. In addition, activated (mobilized) National Guard members may not wear their state awards while serving in Title 10 (federal) status.
