Francis Ronald "Frank" Tate was a fictional character on the ITV soap opera "Emmerdale". He was played by Norman Bowler.

Frank arrived in Beckindale in 1989 with his second wife Kim, son Chris and daughter Zoe. When Kim had an affair with Neil Kincaid in 1992, he threw her out, but after being thrown back together during the chaos and destruction of the plane crash, and Frank hired a private detective to follow them. On finding Kim and Dave in bed together Frank uttered the line "What do you call this Dave, overtime?" Frank paid Kim £1 million to name him as the father of her baby, who was named James Francis Tate.Dave, as a result of the affair with Kim, later died in a fire at Home Farm whilst saving baby James on Christmas Eve 1996. When Kim disappeared Frank was arrested and charged with her murder, before being released due to lack of evidence. Frank died of a heart attack when Kim returned to shock him having faked her own death. He was 59 years old.

Since Frank's death, two of his sons have died: his long-lost son Liam was killed by Zoe after kidnapping Chris. Chris committed suicide, having spent the final decade of his life confined to a wheelchair after being injured by falling debris during the plane crash.
