"Trippin"' is a 1999 comedy film starring Deon Richmond, Maia Campbell, Donald Faison, and Guy Torry. The film also served as one of Anthony Anderson's earliest film roles. It was directed by David Raynr.

Filming and releases

The movie was filmed on location in California in the cities of Los Angeles and Long Beach in 1998. Narbonne High School in Harbor City was used for most of the film's school shots. Harbor City in Los Angeles was also a location used for filming as some of the film's scenes take place on the RMS Queen Mary. The title of the film, while it was in production, was "G's Trippin" that was later shortened to its current title before release.

The film was released during the start of the summer movie season of 1999. It was released in a limited number of theaters compared to the summer blockbusters released around the same time. The film did well enough to crack the top ten in gross receipts during its first few weeks of release. It was later released on VHS and DVD that same year. The film was re-released in 2005 as part of a DVD 4-pack named the "Playa Pack" that also contained the films Deliver Us from Eva, The Best Man, and How to Be a Player. The sole DVD was released with a different cover art featuring both Deon Richmond and Donald Faison.

Plot

Greg (Richmond) is nearing the end of his high school days as graduation slowly approaches. He is also anxiously awaiting prom and has the hopes of going with Cinny (Maia Campbell), the school's local beauty. Along with these wants, Greg is also an avid daydreamer and daydreams (trippin') over everything from being a great lover to a great student. Since he is about to graduate his mother and a certain teacher stay on him about college and applying to attend universities. He finally realizes this is a great way for him to get in good with Cinny, asking for help with the college applications. So they slowly start a friendship but Greg's wants it to blossom into a romance so he begins to lie about several different things and everything goes smooth and is believable until it falls apart one day. Afterward, Greg realizes he needs to stop daydreaming (trippin') and start being real.
